ecns.cnFormer senator Antonio Trillanes IV testified at a House of Representatives justice committee hearing in Manila on April 22, 2026, detailing payments exceeding P100 million that Vice President Sara Duterte and her family allegedly received from Samuel Uy between 2011 and 2013.
6 million in payments made via cashier’s and personal checks to various Duterte family members during that period. He described the transactions as part of broader allegations of unexplained wealth in the impeachment proceedings against the vice president.
32 million across three transactions from Uy between 2011 and 2013. 58 million across five transactions in the same timeframe, according to Trillanes' testimony. 81 million across four transactions from Uy during those years.
6 million and were directed to multiple family members.
Trillanes identified Samuel Uy as a known business partner of Michael Yang, who served as former president Rodrigo Duterte’s economic adviser. He noted that Yang has been embroiled in the Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation scandal and Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) scandals.
Uy was also among the top campaign donors to Rodrigo Duterte in his 2016 presidential run, according to Trillanes.
4 billion flowed between 2003 and 2016. 63 million. Trillanes stated that the vice president failed to declare these funds in her Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).
"In my view, all of these constitute the ‘impeachable offenses’ of betrayal of public trust, graft and corruption, and other high crimes as stated in the Constitution," Trillanes said during the hearing. He asserted that the unexplained wealth forms the basis for these offenses. Rappler reported that Trillanes submitted an 11-page affidavit repeating these allegations.
Vice President Sara Duterte stated in July 2025 that information regarding her bank accounts was obtained illegally and she had no obligation to answer related questions. "As of now, the information with regard to the bank accounts were obtained illegally and I have no obligation to answer them," she said at the time.
The justice committee is weighing these claims as part of the impeachment process.
