Troops Intercept Six Men Who Escaped Captivity in Zamfara State

The victims were intercepted by troops of the 1 Brigade Combat Team 6 at Forward Operating Base Gwashi in Bukuyyum Local Government Area.
They were rescued on Friday along the Gwashi-Bukuyyum road after fleeing their captors.
The six men escaped following an air interdiction operation conducted by the Nigerian Air Force west of Bagega Forest. The rescued men were identified as Muhammad Sani from Masama village, Junaidu Muhammad from Gandun Malam village, Abubakar Abdullahi and Abubakar Barau from Maibaka village, Surajo Abubakar from Dogon Daji village, and Nasiru Hakilu from Adabka village.
The victims had spent several months in captivity before regaining their freedom. A military operational report detailing the rescue was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Monday. Efforts are ongoing to reunite the rescued victims with their families and provide necessary support.
The rescue occurred amid intensified military operations against groups operating in forests and remote communities across the North-west. Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining pressure on criminal elements until all kidnapped victims are rescued and communities are secured.
