Trump Accounts App Launches as Nearly 6 Million Children Enroll

The Trump accounts app became available for download on all major mobile app stores on May 28, 2026. gov website to manage the tax-deferred accounts created under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Nearly 6 million American children have already been signed up for the accounts, according to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. An estimated 67 million children remain eligible but have not yet enrolled.

Activation for existing accounts will begin July 4. gov with instructions to complete setup before that date. Starting July 4, eligible accounts will receive the one-time $1,000 government contribution. Additional deposits from parents, family members, employers, and other donors can begin the same day, subject to the $5,000 annual limit.

Parents remain the sole custodians of each account until the child turns 18.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that with the initial $1,000 government grant and assuming historical growth rates continue, a Trump account could grow to at least half a million dollars by retirement age. Nearly three dozen companies and philanthropists have pledged to match donations for employee children enrolled in the accounts.
