Trump Says Acting DNI Can Declassify Materials During Short Tenure

President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that he instructed acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte to declassify almost everything while serving in the position. "Bill (Pulte) is there just for a fairly short period of time. But while he’s there, I said you can declassify whatever you want," Trump told reporters.

"I think that Bill will declassify. " Pulte was selected last month to serve temporarily as acting director. Trump noted that Pulte’s tenure will end once his formal nominee, Jay Clayton, completes the Senate confirmation process.

Clayton currently serves as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York. CNN reported that a White House task force plans to declassify documents from U.S. intelligence agencies related to past elections.
