President Donald Trump delivered a primetime address from the East Room of the White House on July 16, 2026, announcing the declassification of records on Chinese hacking of voter data and directing federal action to remove ineligible voters from state rolls.

NBC and ABC News declined to air the speech on their primary broadcast channels. ABC carried it on its streaming platform and ABC News Radio.
NBC carried it on its streaming service. Trump stated that the networks avoided the topic of election integrity. "They knew what it was about because of the fact that they don’t like the topic, because they know how corrupt our system is, and they don’t want to reveal it," he said.
He added that networks using public airwaves without payment should face license revocation for such conduct. Trump said China obtained 220 million voter records during the 2020 election. A Homeland Security Department review found 278,000 noncitizens registered to vote in federal elections.
He said he had directed the department to notify states and remove those ineligible voters from the rolls. White House communications director Steven Cheung posted on X that the networks did not want viewers to hear the truth and urged people to watch the address on the White House platform at 9:00 p.m. EDT.
The Federal Communications Commission ordered an early review of license renewals for eight Disney-owned ABC stations in April and was examining whether ABC’s daytime program The View violated equal-airtime rules for political candidates. Trump had previously called for revocation of the networks’ broadcast licenses.
