The White House is considering requiring vetting of AI models before they are released to the public, according to multiple reports. President Donald Trump addressed the potential effects of artificial intelligence on employment during a small business summit at the White House on Monday.
Trump opened his remarks by highlighting foreign and domestic investments into the American economy in the AI space. “We’re leading China in AI, and I’m going to go see President Xi [Jinping] in two weeks,” Trump said. “They said, ‘it’s going to take jobs,' I said, ‘Well, you’re probably right, maybe a little bit, but it’s going to create a lot of jobs,’” Trump said.
