Trump is taking more than a dozen U.S. executives to China on the trip. Boeing is expected to secure its first major Chinese order in years during the visit.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is not joining the delegation. Huang visited China multiple times in the last 18 months, including a high-profile visit to Beijing in the summer of 2025. Last week Huang told CNBC's Jim Cramer: "We should let the president announce whatever he decides to announce ... If invited, it would be a privilege, it would be a great honor to represent the United States."
The U.S. imposed new restrictions requiring export licenses for Nvidia’s H20 AI chips. Government-approved versions of its chips had yet to be allowed into China. China once accounted for at least a fifth of Nvidia's data center revenue. Nvidia's CEO has made multiple recent trips to China as the company worked to maintain business ties in that market.
The visit comes as the U.S. and China continue to navigate tensions over technology and trade.
