President Donald Trump said the deaths of two U.S. soldiers killed in Jordan on Friday were a shame but portrayed them as a necessary sacrifice to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, the Washington Examiner reported. Speaking with the New York Post, Trump said the soldiers gave their lives for a greater cause.
"They did it because they don’t want to see Iran have a nuclear weapon," Trump said. " Trump said he would contact the parents of the killed soldiers. "Of course I will. I always do. Yeah," he stated when asked.
Trump ordered retaliatory strikes on Saturday that targeted Iranian military and radar capabilities as well as Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps units responsible for the attack. The strikes marked the eighth consecutive night of U.S. action against Iran.
