Trump listed two main conditions for any deal. He said stopping Iran from developing nuclear weapons and reopening the blockaded Strait of Hormuz remain top priorities. "The one guarantee that I have to have is that there will be no nuclear weapons.
They've agreed to that, and it was very interesting," he told his daughter-in-law Lara Trump in an interview broadcast on her Fox News program. The statement came as reports emerged that Trump had sent a tougher peace proposal back to Tehran. Any changes to the proposal could further delay a formal agreement.
Iran has previously cast doubt on the assertions. Tehran has demanded the release of $12 billion in frozen assets before entering substantive talks on its nuclear program. Daily strikes throughout Iran and the Gulf stopped after a temporary ceasefire in April.
Bursts of armed conflict have continued since then. S. military drone near Iranian waters. The United States has not confirmed the incident.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam accused Israel of a scorched-earth policy and called for a swift ceasefire.
