Freedom 250 Concerts Planned for July 4 on National Mall; Trump Proposes Rally There, Artists Withdraw

President Trump posted on Truth Social that he has directed aides to examine whether an “AMERICA IS BACK Rally” or “MAGA rally” could be held at the same time and location as the Freedom 250 concert series on the National Mall. The concert series is part of the Great American State Fair scheduled from June 25 through July 10.

The lineup for the Freedom 250 concerts was announced earlier in the week. Multiple artists subsequently withdrew, according to reports citing the original announcement and artist statements. Morris Day, Young MC, the Commodores, Bret Michaels and Martina McBride are among those who pulled out of scheduled performances, the New York Post reported.

Trump’s Truth Social post stated he only wants to be surrounded by “Happy People, Smart People, Successful People, and People that know how to WIN.” In the same post he wrote that he is “the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime and does so without a guitar.”

Vanilla Ice said he is honored to perform at the Freedom 250 events. The Freedom 250 events and any potential rally remain under review by administration representatives.

A federal judge ordered Trump to remove his name from the Kennedy Center and cease his renovations last week, the New York Post reported. Trump called for the judge’s impeachment. He had previously indicated he would transfer oversight of the Kennedy Center to Congress.
