Trump Defends Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche Ahead of Senate Confirmation Hearing

President Trump on Tuesday posted on Truth Social defending acting Attorney General Todd Blanche ahead of his Senate confirmation hearing. The Hill reported that Trump credited Blanche with bringing murder rates to historic lows, including the biggest one-year drop in recorded history, and with increasing violent crime arrests by 100 percent.

Trump also stated that the department under Blanche seized more than 500 million deadly doses of drugs.

Trump wrote that Blanche protected free speech, ended the weaponization of the Justice Department, stood against transgender people in women's sports, and went to all-out war against fraud. He added that Blanche stood by him and fought off lawfare when the Biden Justice Department and radical left prosecutors tried to throw him in jail and interfered in the 2024 presidential campaign.

Trump described Blanche as a fair and great lawyer who is loyal to the Constitution.

Trump urged every Republican senator to vote to confirm Blanche as soon as possible. The Hill reported that Trump nominated Blanche to lead the Department of Justice after former Attorney General Pam Bondi was fired in April. Blanche, who was once Trump's personal attorney and represented him in various criminal trials, has served in the acting role since then.

Blanche will appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. The Hill reported that he is expected to be questioned over his push for a nearly $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund and the department's handling of files involving convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The majority of seats on the committee are held by Republicans.
