Trump Defends White House Ballroom Renovation Costing Under $400 Million

"The original price was 200 Million Dollars, the double sized, highest quality completed project will be something less than 400 Million Dollars. " Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump posted a rendering of the proposed ballroom on March 31, 2026. The White House had previously stated it aimed to raise $400 million for the project through private donations. In February 2026, Trump said the work would incur "no charge to the taxpayer whatsoever" and would be funded entirely by donations from friends and people who love the country.
