President Trump said he spoke by telephone with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on July 7 and believes both sides want to reach a deal to end the war in Ukraine. Trump made the remarks during a meeting with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan at the NATO summit in Turkey. "I had a very good talk with President Putin," he said.
"We had a long talk, it lasted a long time. And I also spoke with President Zelenskiy right after that. " Zelenskiy and Trump are scheduled to meet at the summit on July 8. Zelenskiy said on July 7 that he plans to discuss Ukraine's need for air defense systems at the NATO summit.
