Trump Holds National Mall Rally to Open Great American State Fair as Gas Prices Fall from May Peak

President Donald Trump held a rally on the National Mall on June 24 to launch the Great American State Fair celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. The fair continues through July 10. Fox News reported that attendees at the rally discussed gasoline prices that rose during the Iran conflict.

The national average stood at $2.98 per gallon before the conflict, reached a peak of $4.56 per gallon in late May, and fell to $3.87 per gallon by the end of June. Washington and Tehran agreed to halt military strikes in the region. Delegations from both sides are scheduled to meet on June 30 in Doha, Qatar.

Several attendees linked the price increases to the conflict rather than current policies. Billy of North Carolina said, "My least favorite president ran gas up to about $5 a gallon for no reason, and that was Mr. " James McNair of Maryland cited interest rates that rose under former President Biden.

James of New York said gas prices are already coming down as the Iran conflict ends. "I think gas prices are already coming down, not tremendously, not where we would like to see, but those things take time," he said. Matt of Maryland noted that prices have risen and said his drill sergeants warned of deployment to Iran in 1985.

Norma Holm of Indiana said addressing the issue with Iran now was preferable to leaving it for the next generation.
