He said the measure, approved Thursday, will leave owners unable to cover rising costs for energy, supplies and taxes. "What the mayor doesn't say is that these buildings will soon turn into ghettos and slums and that everybody will continue leaving New York," Trump said.
Trump also addressed three Democratic primary winners tied to the Democratic Socialists of America. Two of the candidates are current DSA members and one is a former member. "These are not social democrats, these are hardcore godless communists," Trump said of the winners.

Trump joked that communism is easy to sell but ultimately destructive. "Communism is very easy to sell, it destroys everything, but it's very easy," he said. " "[Mamdani] said he was going to do this in his campaign, but nobody thought he was serious," the president said of the mayor.
