President Donald Trump sent Iranian officials a revised set of conditions for ending the war in Iran on or before May 31, 2026. The updated framework tightens the original proposed terms and was returned for further review. One official said the revisions were designed to speed up the process by reinforcing points Trump considers essential, including arrangements for Iran’s nuclear material.

It was not immediately clear what specific alterations were made. Officials indicated Tehran may take days to respond, with one senior official telling Axios that Trump was informed it could take three days. “They’re literally in caves, and they’re not using email,” the official said.

The same official added: “There will be a deal. The imminence of it, we’ll see. We’re willing to wait so the president gets what he asks for. It could be a week. It could be less. ” Trump has said his priorities include Iran agreeing never to develop nuclear weapons and the reopening of the blockaded Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly 20 percent of the world’s oil supply transits.
