President Trump said Iran must move quickly on a revised peace proposal or risk additional military action. The warning came as a U.S.-Iran cease-fire remained fragile and second-round talks had not yet been scheduled in Islamabad.

Greene Issues Warning Over Ground Troops Former Rep.

Marjorie Taylor Greene said sending U.S. troops into Iran would produce a political revolution in the United States. "If you send in U.S. military troops into Iran, there is going to be a political revolution in America," Greene stated. She added that the coalition opposed to new foreign wars would unite and become unstoppable.

Greene, who split from Trump last year over foreign policy and other issues, urged an end to the current conflict.

Trump rejected Iran’s earlier response to a U.S. proposal, calling it unacceptable. Pakistani sources told Reuters that Iran had sent a revised offer through Pakistan. Iran’s five demands include a permanent end to fighting, removal of sanctions, release of frozen assets, compensation for damages, and recognition of its control over the Strait of Hormuz.

The main sticking points remain Iran’s nuclear program and navigation rules in the Strait of Hormuz.

Energy prices have risen after shipping through the Strait of Hormuz was disrupted. Grocery prices in the United States increased 0.7 percent in April, the largest one-month jump in nearly four years. A New York Times poll published Monday showed Trump’s approval rating at 37 percent, with 64 percent of respondents saying the decision to go to war with Iran was wrong.
