Trump Transfers Roosevelt Medal of Honor to New Presidential Library
President Trump presented the congressional Medal of Honor awarded posthumously to Theodore Roosevelt to the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota. The transfer took place during the library's opening ceremony on Wednesday.

Trump told the crowd that he had personally removed the medal from the Roosevelt Room in the White House and presented it to the library 128 years after the Battle of San Juan Heights.
"TR was celebrated as a hero and [was] eventually awarded the congressional Medal of Honor," Trump said after touring the library. " Trump added that the medal, earned for bravery during the Spanish-American War, will remain on display at the library alongside the Medal of Honor earned by Roosevelt’s son.
Trump traveled to the event aboard the new and improved Air Force One as part of his semiquincentennial activities. He noted that Americans across the country are preparing for the 250th anniversary of the United States and said he plans to deliver a long speech on July 4 despite temperatures expected to reach approximately 107 degrees.
Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, who helped raise money for the library, issued a statement highlighting Roosevelt’s conservation legacy and the library’s role in showcasing how his work shaped the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Parks.
>"North Dakota transformed Theodore Roosevelt into a leader and conservationist who would leave an enduring mark on America," Burgum said in a statement. Trump also joked that he and his sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, should receive similar medals for their accomplishments.
