Trump Says U.S.-Iran Talks Continue Despite Lebanon Tensions
President Trump stated that negotiations with Iran remain active. The remarks followed Iranian reports of a possible suspension linked to Israeli operations in Lebanon.
gamereactor.euPresident Trump said Monday that talks with Iran are continuing at a rapid pace. The statement came after reports from Tehran indicated Iran planned to suspend negotiations over Israeli military actions in Lebanon. Trump said Iran had not informed the United States of any decision to end the talks.
Netanyahu said his country’s military will continue to operate as planned in southern Lebanon. The announcement followed a U.S. effort to broker a renewed ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. Trump initially said he could not care less if the negotiations ended.
Within hours he reported making calls to Israel and Hezbollah that led both sides to scale back attacks. Tehran had suggested it was suspending the talks because of Israel’s campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Trump countered that the discussions had not been cut off and remained active.
The two countries have not yet reached a deal to end the war, according to multiple reports.
