Blockade and Shipping Impact U.S.
Central Command reported Monday that 85 commercial vessels have been redirected due to the ongoing blockade. The command stated it continues to enforce the blockade against Iranian ports.
Iran's state media reported Monday that the country's armed forces are more prepared and stronger than ever before. A statement from Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi, commander of Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said Iran would respond quickly and decisively to any renewed aggression.
Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper warned Tuesday that failure to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could trigger a global food crisis. She said tens of millions of people could go hungry if fertilizer shipments remain blocked. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization had earlier warned of fertilizer scarcity that would reduce crop yields in late 2026 and 2027.
