Trump Says U.S. Will Strike Iran's Pickaxe Mountain but Has No Interest in New Negotiations

President Trump said Tuesday that the U.S. military will bomb Iran's Pickaxe Mountain, a deep underground site the United States and Israel suspect could hold nuclear equipment. He spoke at the start of a White House meeting with Lebanon's president.

"We'll be hitting that area very probably pretty soon," Trump said. " Trump said U.S. officials believe Iran "may have" stored centrifuges there but noted they lack confirmation on record. Even if centrifuges are present, he said, "it doesn't mean anything unless they have the [nuclear] material," which he stated Iran does not.

He described the U.S. position as "not finished at all" with its campaign against Iran and said Tehran "hasn't seen anything yet. " The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that Israel supplied the United States with intelligence indicating Iran moved thousands of centrifuges into Pickaxe Mountain.

Israeli assessments placed the transfer last fall after the 12-day war in June 2025, during which American and Israeli strikes hit the nuclear sites at Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz under the operation named Midnight Hammer. Pickaxe Mountain, also known as Mount Kolang, lies adjacent to Natanz.

Iran had commissioned the site as an underground replacement for a centrifuge-assembly facility damaged in a 2020 explosion.

Activity recorded there over the past 15 months includes truck traffic, tunnel reinforcements, and a security perimeter, according to the Institute for Science and International Security. Experts estimate the complex reaches 300 to 450 feet beneath solid rock. Trump had flagged Pickaxe Mountain as a possible target in a July 13 interview with broadcaster Hugh Hewitt.

It remains unclear whether U.S. munitions can reach the deepest sections of the facility, though strikes could still damage surface access and block tunnels.
