Trump Urges Senate GOP to Attach SAVE America Election Integrity Measure to Immigration Funding Bill

President Trump is pressing Senate Republicans to bring the SAVE America Act to a vote as an amendment to the $70 billion immigration enforcement funding bill they debated on the floor Thursday. The legislation would require proof of citizenship to register to vote, photo ID to cast a ballot, and force states to update voter rolls with a federal citizenship database. Sen.

The renewed push follows a late surge of mail-in ballots in California’s jungle primary held Tuesday that is delaying final results in several close races.

Kennedy offered the same measure as an amendment to the budget resolution that launched the reconciliation process now being used for the immigration funding bill. That amendment failed after Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Thom Tillis of North Carolina joined all Democrats in opposition.
