Trump Campaigns in Wisconsin, Says Iran Has Not Agreed to Deal to End War Now in Fourth Month
President Donald Trump addressed supporters at Custer Farms in Chippewa Falls on June 5, stating the United States would leave the Iran conflict quickly and that fertilizer prices would fall.
ibtimes.comPresident Donald Trump told reporters he does not believe Iran has agreed to a deal to end the war, which is now in its fourth month. In an exclusive interview, Trump said he is “very proud” of how the conflict has been handled so far and indicated that the United States would come out of it “very quickly and it’s going to be strong one way or the other.”
Trump made the remarks while campaigning for Republicans in Wisconsin on June 5, appearing at a roundtable event at Custer Farms in Chippewa Falls. He predicted that fertilizer prices would return to levels seen four months earlier once the conflict is resolved and added that progress in negotiations with Iran could come soon.
According to an NBC News interview, Trump explicitly stated that Iran has not agreed to any deal. The outlet reported that the war is now in its fourth month.
A separate Al-Monitor report on the Wisconsin event quoted Trump saying the U.S. would exit the Iran conflict rapidly. The story noted he was campaigning for Republicans ahead of elections, including in a competitive House district where the GOP holds a narrow 217-212 majority.
Politico reported that Trump separately criticized “bad Republicans” who had voted to end the Iran war, though the article did not specify names or the exact vote tally.
Democratic challenger Rebecca Cooke held her own event the same day at her family’s farm in nearby Eau Claire. She said Trump’s visit was intended to bolster Representative Derrick Van Orden, who won reelection in 2024 by a narrow margin and is seen by national Democrats as a target. Cooke stated that farmers are being squeezed by tariffs, healthcare costs, and inputs affected by the war in Iran.
Tom Paff, a data analyst from Boyd, Wisconsin, who attended Trump’s event and described himself as a Trump supporter, said he was unhappy about rising gas prices that followed the start of the Iran war and the enactment of sweeping tariffs in 2025.
Trump’s June 5 appearance marked at least the fourth visit to the district by senior administration officials in the past year, including two visits by Vice President JD Vance in August and February. During his 2024 campaign, Trump had pledged to cut inflation.
