The TV tracking app will discontinue operations as its parent company shifts focus to an AI product. Whip Media cited insufficient demand for a paid version of the service.
TechCrunchTV Time will discontinue service after July 15, 2026. TechCrunch reported that the parent company Whip Media delivered the news through in-app messages to users. Whip Media stated that operating the platform as a free app was no longer sustainable and that demand for a paid version was insufficient.
The message thanked users for building a community around the app. The app has recorded more than 26 million lifetime installs and nearly 29,000 new downloads in the 30 days before the announcement, according to Appfigures data cited by TechCrunch. Whip Media was acquired by Blue Torch Capital in early 2025.
Under the new ownership the company pivoted to its AI-powered automation and workflow management tool Helix. Whip Media said TV Time data will not be used in any commercial service after the shutdown and that all personal data from users will be deleted. Users may request a GDPR-compliant export of their data before July 15.
The app will be removed from app stores on that date.
