The schools are Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, the University of Pennsylvania, UC Santa Barbara, Cal State Polytechnic Humboldt, Carnegie Mellon, Florida State, Stanford, Stony Brook, and Villanova.
Columbia University in Manhattan is among those adding the facilities. Some of the schools now have more than 50 all-gender facilities. Stanford has designated multi-stall restrooms with enhanced privacy features as gender-inclusive restrooms.
The report cited a 2023 study by the Correctional Service of Canada that found 44 percent of transgender female inmates had convictions for sex-related offenses. William Jacobson, founder of Legal Insurrection and a Cornell Law School professor, said the organization is investigating potential Title IX violations at the schools.
