Two Dead in Leipzig Car Incident, Plane Crash Kills Two in Belo Horizonte, Saskatoon Probes Homicide

Two people died and several others sustained injuries when a car plowed into a crowd in the city center of Leipzig, Germany. Authorities detained a 33-year-old German citizen following the incident. Multiple reports confirmed the event, highlighting the immediate response from local officials.

Separately, a small aircraft crashed into a low-rise residential building in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, killing the pilot and co-pilot while leaving three passengers in serious condition. m. m.

The pilot had reported difficulties during takeoff to the airport control tower before the aircraft circled the Silveira area and collided with the building. The crash struck between the third and fourth floors in the stairwell of the building, projecting the aircraft's structure inside without hitting any apartments.

Lieutenant Raul of the Fire Department noted that if the plane had hit the sides, it could have struck occupied residences.

No one in the building was injured, and the pilot remained trapped in the wreckage before dying. Investigators from the Centre for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents, known as CENIPA, are examining the incident, supported by teams from the Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents and Third Regional Service for Investigation.

The Civil Police from Minas Gerais, or PCMG, has also launched its own probe into the crash.

The Brazilian Air Force confirmed the involvement of these agencies on site. Avani Soares, a resident of the affected building in Belo Horizonte, described the moment of impact. She said she thought 'the world had ended' after the plane hit, telling TV Globo that everything went dark, a lot of debris fell, and people were screaming for help on another floor.

Soares ran to the window in the darkness, saw the plane, grabbed her phone and glasses, and went downstairs without taking anything else, amid a strong smell of fuel. In Saskatoon, Canada, police discovered a 77-year-old woman who had died inside a home in the 200 block of Avenue R South. m.

CST on Sunday. The death is being treated as the city's seventh homicide of 2026. Major crimes and forensic units are handling the investigation into the woman's death. Police have not released the woman's name or additional details.
