The planned moves add to two other exits announced in recent days. Nobel laureate John Jumper is heading to Anthropic, and researcher Noam Shazeer is joining OpenAI. A Google spokesperson said the company remains confident in its position in the AI talent market.
The spokesperson pointed to remarks by Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, who said the firm has the largest research bench among leading labs and wins its share of top talent.
Google spent much of the current AI boom catching up to OpenAI and Anthropic before releasing more capable models and chips late last year. Anthropic has raised funding at a $965 billion valuation and is considering an initial public offering as soon as this fall. Adler, Pritzel, Jumper and Shazeer did not respond to requests for comment. Anthropic declined to comment.
