Two technicians from Israel's Tel Nof Airbase near Ashdod will be charged with espionage for Iran, according to a report by Israel's public broadcaster KAN News on April 22, 2026. The charges relate to actions during Operation Roaring Lion, where the technicians allegedly provided engine diagrams for F-15 fighter jets.

They also shared photographs of a flight instructor, which violated military censorship rules, KAN reported.

The technicians were asked to gather information about former IDF chief Lt.-Gen. (ret.) Herzi Halevi and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, according to KAN. Authorities are considering changing the charge against one technician from espionage to treason. Eight other soldiers at the base are suspected of knowing about the activities but not reporting them to authorities.

Following the incident, the commander of Tel Nof Airbase, a brigadier-general whose identity remains classified, held a security briefing for soldiers. During the briefing, the commander stated that he had been summoned by the Shin Bet to clarify the events.

-Gen. Eyal Zamir visited the Tel Nof Airbase on March 10, 2026, according to available records. The incident involves sensitive military information related to Israel's air force operations and national security protocols. Tel Nof Airbase is a key facility for air force activities, located near Ashdod.

Operation Roaring Lion refers to the context in which the alleged leaks occurred, though specific details of the operation remain undisclosed in the report.
