Two Teenagers Kill Three at San Diego Mosque in Shooting
Two teenagers entered a San Diego mosque on Monday evening and opened fire, killing three people before fleeing. One of the suspects later shot the other and then himself in the car.
middleeasteye.netTwo teenagers entered the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday evening carrying assault rifles and opened fire, killing three people. The pair wore patches showing the Black Sun symbol and had written white-supremacist markings on their weapons. They fled the scene in a BMW that one of them had taken from his mother.
In the car, 17-year-old Cain Clark shot his accomplice, Caleb Vasquez, before shooting himself in the head. A 75-page manifesto attributed to the pair expressed hatred toward several groups and stated they were motivated by militant accelerationism. The document included repeated references to Jewish people and described Black people and women in derogatory terms.
The pair recorded the attack, which researchers have linked to online communities on Discord that promote extremist content. Similar incidents involving young people and online radicalization have occurred elsewhere, including a bombing at a school in Jakarta earlier this year. Officials are reviewing video and manifesto materials recovered from the scene.
