Total U.S. production of crude oil and petroleum products rose 254,000 barrels per day in April to a record 21.84 million barrels per day. Year-over-year, total production increased 1.01 million barrels per day, or 4.9 percent. Crude oil production alone rose 216,000 barrels per day in April to a record 13.93 million barrels per day.
Since the 2008 financial crisis, total U.S. petroleum output has quadrupled. Over the same period, crude oil production has increased 250 percent.
