U.S. sales of farm tractors fell in April 2026, according to data released on May 11. Total farm tractor sales reached 19,914 units last month, down 11.3 percent from 22,442 units in April 2025. Two-wheel-drive tractor sales totaled 19,747 units, a decrease of 10.9 percent from the prior year.

Four-wheel-drive tractor sales dropped 42.6 percent to 167 units. Sales of tractors under 40 horsepower declined 13.0 percent to 13,586 units. The 40-to-100 horsepower category fell 4.7 percent to 4,428 units. Sales of tractors over 100 horsepower decreased 8.0 percent to 1,733 units.

Two-wheel-drive tractor sales for the year to date totaled 53,168 units, a decline of 9.2 percent. Four-wheel-drive tractor sales fell 24.7 percent to 622 units.

Self-propelled combine sales in April 2026 rose 3.4 percent to 428 units from 414 units a year earlier. Year-to-date combine sales through April totaled 928 units, down 0.6 percent from 934 units in the first four months of 2025. Inventory of two-wheel-drive tractors stood at 95,117 units at the end of April 2026.

Four-wheel-drive tractor inventory was 519 units, while self-propelled combine inventory measured 872 units.
