Iran Launches Missiles and Drones at Israel; Most Intercepted by U.S., Israeli Forces

U.S. forces intercepted six of seven Iranian ballistic missiles fired toward Kuwait and Bahrain on Friday, while a seventh failed to reach its target. The same day, U.S. forces shot down four Iranian drones launched toward the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. Central Command said the drones posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic.

U.S. forces struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites, including one on an island in the Strait of Hormuz, to defend against further attacks. Kuwait’s military said its forces were intercepting missiles and drones attacking the country. Bahrain activated air raid sirens and directed residents to the nearest safe locations.

Earlier this week, Iranian drones heavily damaged a passenger terminal at Kuwait’s main airport, killing one person, wounding dozens, and briefly closing the airfield. Iranian negotiators reached a tentative agreement a week ago to extend the ceasefire by 60 days and begin new talks on Iran’s nuclear program.

He also said the Iranians still have 21% to 22% of their missiles. The Iranian-backed Hezbollah militant group rejected the agreement. The Israeli military struck multiple parts of southern Lebanon on Friday and issued evacuation warnings for nine villages.

Lebanese state news agency reported that the strikes killed nine people in six locations. The Israeli military said two soldiers were wounded, one severely, in an encounter with militants.

Actions U.S. forces boarded a sanctioned oil tanker linked to Iran in the Indian Ocean on Friday. The United States also imposed new sanctions targeting Iran’s energy sector, including people, firms, and tankers.
