U.S. Central Command said its forces intercepted four Iranian one-way attack drones that were heading toward the Strait of Hormuz. The command described the drones as a maritime threat and stated that the interceptions occurred to protect shipping lanes.
After the drone interceptions, U.S. forces struck coastal radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island. The command said the strikes were intended to deter further attacks.
Iran has not yet issued a public statement on the incidents.
No casualties or damage assessments have been released by either side.
