The U.S. goods trade deficit widened by $22.8 billion, or 27%, in May to $105.8 billion, @KobeissiLetter reported. The figure marks the largest monthly increase since November 2025 and the highest deficit since March 2025.

U.S. goods exports fell $11.8 billion, or 5%, to $207.7 billion during the month. That total is the lowest since February, with the decline driven by a sharp drop in industrial supplies, particularly energy shipments.

U.S. goods imports rose $10.9 billion, or 4%, to $313.4 billion. The increase reached the highest level since March 2025 and was driven by continued imports of data center equipment, including computers, semiconductors, and telecom equipment.
