U.S. Health Officials Investigate Rising Cyclosporiasis Cases

Hundreds of people across 18 states have been diagnosed with cyclosporiasis, an intestinal infection caused by a parasite often found on fresh produce. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated the illness can last weeks or longer and is not transmitted person to person.

Possible sources include salad kits, raspberries, green onions, cilantro and basil. Officials said the outbreak may be part of a seasonal surge and are investigating the cause.

12 The price of a Forever stamp will rise from 78 cents to 82 cents starting July 12, the Postal Service announced. Additional mailing rates will increase as well, producing an overall 4.8 percent rise in mailing services. The agency cited rising operational costs and its financial situation. The first Forever stamps, introduced in 2007, cost 41 cents each.

Investment accounts containing $1,000 in seed money will be available for children born between 2025 and 2028. The accounts were introduced during a July 6 ceremony that included an opening bell rung from the Oval Office.
