S. -Japan-ROK Trilateral Cooperation Act on Monday. The measure creates a formal mechanism for lawmakers from the three countries to meet regularly and coordinate on defense, economic security, public health and emerging technologies.

Rep. Ami Bera’s office announced the bill’s passage on Tuesday. Bera, a Democrat from California and ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s subcommittee on East Asia and the Pacific, introduced the legislation in May 2025.

The bill establishes a bipartisan and bicameral congressional delegation to participate in the discussions. Bera’s office said the delegation is intended to ensure consistent and sustained congressional engagement. "Diplomacy is key to peace.

The United States, Japan, and South Korea are stronger when we work together to advance our shared interests and confront common challenges," Bera said in a press release. " Yonhap reported that the legislation aims to advance cooperation on security, economic and other priorities through regular legislative exchanges.
