U.S. Launches Sixth Night of Strikes on Iran as Tehran Rejects Interference in Strait of Hormuz

U.S. forces began conducting a new wave of strikes against Iran at 2 p.m. ET on July 16, marking the sixth consecutive night of attacks intended to further degrade Iranian military capabilities, U.S.

Central Command said. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that Iran continues to talk with the United States and wants to make a deal. She added that Iran is suffering devastating blows from the U.S.

Military. More than 10,000 U.S. sailors, Marines, and airmen, along with two aircraft carriers, more than 20 warships, and dozens of aircraft, are enforcing a blockade of Iran’s ports and ships, Leavitt said.

U.S. Central Command has redirected two compliant commercial vessels and disabled one non-compliant vessel. -Israeli strikes on military, government, and infrastructure sites. Delegations from both countries entered negotiations in June based on a signed memorandum of understanding.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfqari stated that Iran will not allow the United States to interfere in the Strait of Hormuz under any circumstances and described the waterway as Iran’s inviolable red line. The Kuwait Armed Forces said its air defenses confronted attacks by hostile drones launched from Iran.

Jordanian state media reported that Jordan intercepted eight Iranian missiles.
