Television networks began 24 hours of programming on July 3, 2026, to mark the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. The broadcast featured live reports from locations across the country and concluded on July 4.

Organizers canceled the Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade in Philadelphia on July 3 due to extreme heat. America's Independence Day Parade, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. , was also canceled for the same reason.
The Times Square ball descended eight times between July 3 and July 4 to mark midnight in each U.S. time zone and inhabited territory. The first drop occurred at 10 a.m. ET on July 3 for Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.
The final drop took place at 7 a.m. ET on July 4 for American Samoa. The rolling countdown launched Giving 4th, a national effort encouraging charitable donations and volunteer work. Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram to U.S.
President Donald Trump congratulating the United States on the anniversary. The message described the signing of the Declaration of Independence as an important milestone and noted the responsibility of the two largest nuclear powers for global security.
A broadcast segment showed an anchor climbing through the Statue of Liberty's right arm to the torch more than 300 feet above ground, accompanied by a National Park Service historian.
