U.S. Officials and Private Citizens Advance Plan to Acquire Greenland
President Trump stated in March 2025 the U.S. intention to obtain Greenland. Four men have conducted outreach and influence operations inside and outside government to advance the goal.
The New Yorker" The statement renewed an interest he first expressed during his prior term. During that earlier term, Trump discussed the idea with national-security adviser John Bolton. Bolton directed staff on the National Security Council, including Fiona Hill, to prepare a memo noting that a 1951 treaty already permitted U.S. military access to the territory.
" Former venture capitalist and pecan farmer Tom Dans and retired Army Special Forces commander Drew Horn have conducted influence operations in the territory. Greenland resident Jørgen Boassen, who supports the acquisition, has traveled internationally with funding from private sources.
