U.S. Oil Rig Count Rises to 588 as Brent Crude Gains 4%

Baker Hughes data released Friday showed the total number of active U.S. drilling rigs increased by seven to 588. The number of active oil rigs rose by seven to 452. That figure stands 30 rigs above the same week last year. The count of active gas rigs remained unchanged at 126. That total is nine rigs higher than the corresponding week in 2025.

U.S. crude oil production averaged 13.861 million barrels per day for the week ending July 10. Output rose 486,000 barrels per day from the same week a year earlier. Primary Vision’s Frac Spread Count fell by five crews to 200 during the same period.

The Permian Basin rig count climbed by three to 259.

That total sits four rigs below year-ago levels. The Eagle Ford rig count held steady at 47. The figure is six rigs above the same week last year.

Brent crude traded at $87.65 per barrel on Friday, up 4.06 percent for the day. The price is roughly $12 higher than one week earlier. WTI crude traded at $82.23 per barrel, up 4.15 percent on the day.
