U.S. Orders Anthropic to Block Foreign Access to New AI Models
The U.S. government directed Anthropic to restrict foreign nationals from its latest artificial intelligence models. The order affects Mythos and Fable and follows earlier export controls on AI chips.
The U.S. government ordered Anthropic on Friday to deny foreign nationals access to the company's newest artificial intelligence models. The directive targets the Mythos and Fable models, which are used by banks, law firms, and government offices.
The ban applies a broad authority over the technology that had not been used in this form before. The U.S. government has previously restricted access to advanced AI chips through similar measures.
Minister announced Tuesday that the civil service will adopt a tool from local startup Mistral AI. The same announcement stated that French company Chapsvision was chosen by the domestic intelligence agency to replace U.S. software firm Palantir. "France must have its own tools," the Prime Minister said.
" Leaders of the Group of Seven countries discussed AI during a meeting hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron in Evian, France. A draft statement from the meeting said the group would further discuss opportunities and risks from AI, especially in the financial sector.
