U.S. President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that an agreement with Iran has been largely negotiated. He said the final aspects and details are still being discussed and will be announced shortly. The president added that the Strait of Hormuz will be opened as part of the agreement.

He also stated that he had completed a call with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkiye, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain.

Iranian demands include an end to fighting on all fronts, recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, and guarantees against future attacks. The United States is seeking a 20-year suspension of uranium enrichment and the transfer of Iran’s highly enriched uranium.

President Trump has said Iran should never be able to build a nuclear weapon and must limit the range and number of its ballistic missiles.

Reactions A former Israeli defence minister told Channel 12 that any agreement would be a catastrophe because it would leave Iran’s leadership intact. He also criticized the reported unfreezing of $110 billion in Iranian assets and the resumption of Iranian oil and gas sales.

Several Republican senators wrote on social media that a deal would shift the regional balance of power and called a rumored 60-day ceasefire a disaster.

Pakistan’s military said talks held in Tehran between its chief, General Asim Munir, and Iranian officials were productive. The meetings included the Iranian president and foreign minister. Israeli forces carried out an attack on a residential building in Lebanon’s Sir el-Gharbiyeh municipality, raising the death toll to nine, according to local civil defence teams.
