An Iranian missile struck Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait, injuring several American contractors and active-duty personnel with minor wounds after Kuwaiti defenses intercepted the projectile. Debris from the interception damaged two MQ-9 Reaper drones valued at roughly $30 million on the base, which lies about 20 miles from the Iraqi border.

Trump met with his security team on Friday and said he plans to make a final determination on a proposal that would extend a ceasefire for 60 days, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and set up further negotiations on Iran's nuclear material while the U.S. lifts its blockade. U.S. Central Command did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the proposal.

The U.S. continues to enforce a blockade of Iranian ports and disabled a Gambia-flagged vessel on Saturday, a U.S. official told the Associated Press. The bulk carrier Lian Star is currently adrift in the Gulf of Oman after U.S. aircraft took action against the vessel.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth told a defense conference in Singapore on Saturday that U.S. forces are focused on being postured and prepared to re-engage if necessary. CENTCOM posted images Saturday of a Marine Corps F-35B stealth fighter landing on the flight deck of USS Tripoli while transiting the Arabian Sea, along with a U.S. Air Force F-16 flying over the Middle East during a patrol.

U.S. forces remain present and vigilant across the region, the command said. News of the developments came as President Trump spent the weekend at the White House and his Virginia golf club while deciding whether to accept Tehran's latest peace proposal.
