U.S. Revokes Visas of Over 100 Foreign Nationals in West Africa Birth-Tourism Network

U.S. visas. S. officials identified more than 400 suspected birth-tourism cases from Europe since 2024.

Those cases were linked to at least six companies that coached applicants on visa-interview answers, arranged housing, and set up delivery plans. The State Department revoked the visas of the foreign nationals involved in the West Africa network and is coordinating with local authorities to identify and shut down similar operations.

"Uninhibited birth tourism poses a tremendous cost to taxpayers and threatens our national security," Kelly said. "The Trump administration is effectively ending this practice, which brings the United States in line with the policy of most countries around the world," Kelly added.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued a Houston-area postpartum center accused of facilitating more than 1,000 births for primarily Chinese clients. -based companies allegedly advertising birth-tourism services. Federation for American Immigration Reform's Ira Mehlman said visa fraud is a significant issue and that the prospect of birthright citizenship is an inducement for people to commit visa fraud.
