Erdogan discussed regional developments in a phone call with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Erdogan said Turkiye wants the Strait of Hormuz to be immediately opened. Bahrain’s UN envoy Jamal Fares Alrowaiei condemned a drone attack on the Barakah nuclear facility in the UAE as a serious and unjustified escalation.

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi addressed a special session of the UN Security Council on the attack on the Barakah nuclear plant. Grossi said a direct hit on the facility could result in a high release of radioactivity to the environment. Grossi added that attacks on nuclear facilities devoted to peaceful purposes are unacceptable.
