U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio completed a four-day visit to India on Tuesday. He met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attended a foreign ministers-level Quad summit that produced a joint statement on maritime security and critical minerals. Indian officials have cited continued U.S. engagement with Pakistan and U.S. policy toward China as ongoing concerns. Rubio described an Indian pledge to purchase $500 billion in U.S. goods over five years.
Goyal led a 100-member delegation to Canada this week for talks on clean energy, artificial intelligence, automobiles, and agriculture. Goyal met Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to discuss a future trade agreement. Sri Lanka's central bank raised its main interest rate from 7.75 percent to 8.75 percent on Tuesday, citing inflation and currency effects linked to the Iran war.
