U.S. Strikes Iranian Water Plant on War Day 141

Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced Saturday that it has suspended its commitments to the memorandum of understanding with the U.S. on the 141st day of the Iran War. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said the U.S. had “effectively trampled on and halted all of its commitments.” He added that Iran is “no longer implementing” the Islamabad memorandum of understanding.

CENTCOM stated Friday evening that it struck Iranian surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, and underground weapons storage facilities. The BBC reported that U.S. forces bombed and destroyed an Iranian water desalination facility overnight, leaving about 10,000 people without drinking water.

The report noted that destroyed roads and bridges will make delivering water to affected rural communities extremely difficult.

Iran said it retaliated against U.S. bases in the region, claiming strikes on aircraft at Al Azraq in Jordan, Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, and an intelligence data center in Bahrain. Iran also targeted Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia for the first time in four months.

Iran’s Ministry of Health said U.S. attacks since July 6 have killed at least 50 people. An Amnesty International report released Saturday concluded that some Iranian drone strikes on Bahrain and Saudi Arabia may constitute war crimes, citing two strikes that killed four civilians.
