U.S. Treasury Sanctions Four Individuals Linked to Pro-Hamas Flotilla
The Treasury Department sanctioned four individuals tied to a flotilla organized by the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad. The action also targets members of Muslim Brotherhood networks aligned with Hamas.
foxnews.comThe Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned four individuals associated with a pro-Hamas flotilla attempting to reach Gaza, the department said in a May 19 statement. The flotilla is organized by the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad, which the United States has classified as a specially designated global terrorist.
The Treasury stated that the PCPA was established with funding from Hamas's International Relations Bureau and that Hamas directs its activity through officials placed throughout the organization.
The four sanctioned individuals include a Spanish member of the PCPA's General Secretariat who is a central figure of the flotilla, the acting secretary general and president of the PCPA from Jordan, a Belgium-based European coordinator for the Samidoun organization, and a Samidoun coordinator from Spain.
Samidoun is a front organization for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, which the State Department has designated as a foreign terrorist organization. The Treasury said both the PCPA and Samidoun act on behalf of sanctioned Palestinian terrorist organizations.
OFAC also sanctioned several members of Muslim Brotherhood networks aligned with Hamas. S. persons are blocked and must be reported to OFAC.
