Megan Grant hit the 91st home run of her UCLA career on May 30, 2026, breaking the school record previously held by Stacey Nuveman. The eighth-seeded Bruins defeated Arkansas 11-0 in a run-rule elimination game at the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City. All nine UCLA players in the lineup scored at least one run during a nine-run second inning.

Aleena Garcia opened the scoring with a solo home run to center field. Soo-Jin Berry followed with a three-run home run to left field. Grant then hit a three-run home run to the left-center-field gap, giving her 91 career home runs and moving her past Nuveman, who played for UCLA from 1998 to 2002.

Kaniya Bragg hit a ball that struck the top of the right-field wall and was ruled a ground-rule double. "It's like a dream, honestly," Grant said. "Stacey Nuveman was a powerhouse. " Grant has hit 42 home runs in the 2026 season, extending her own NCAA single-season record.

Only Florida has scored more runs in a single inning at the WCWS than UCLA's second-inning total, with Florida scoring 11 runs in 2011. UCLA had previously scored nine runs in an inning twice at the WCWS, in 1992 and 2010.

"Hitting is contagious," UCLA coach Kelly Inouye-Perez said. " The Bruins lost their WCWS opener to top-seeded Alabama on May 29, 2026, despite Grant hitting her 41st home run of the season. UCLA will face the loser of the Tennessee versus Texas Tech game in another elimination game on Sunday.

Arkansas made its first appearance at the Women's College World Series in 2026 and lost to Nebraska in 10 innings on May 29. "Whenever you're not at your best, they're going to expose you," Arkansas coach Courtney Deifel said.
