UConn Guard Solo Ball to Miss 2026-27 Season After Wrist Surgery

Ball injured his wrist in a win over Butler on December 16 and irritated it again in a win at Xavier on New Year's Eve. He continued playing the rest of the season with his left wrist taped. Last season, Ball averaged 12.8 points per game for the Huskies.
UConn head coach Dan Hurley stated that Ball would use the season to fully recover. Hurley described Ball as someone who has shown resilience throughout his career. Ball is expected to return as a top guard in college basketball.
UConn has added players including forward Nikolas Khamenia and center Najai Hines via the transfer portal. Guard Silas Demary Jr. and forward Jayden Ross plan to return, and Bryan Mullins announced his return over the weekend. Over three seasons, Ball has scored 1,153 points and averaged 13.6 points per game.
In 2024, he averaged 14.4 points. He ranks 10th in UConn men's basketball history with 199 three-pointers made and shot 30 percent from three-point range last season. Ball has played in all but one game over the previous two seasons.
